Chapter 1633
Gideon and Abigail found themselves cornered in a narrow alleyway, surrounded with no way to escape. They had no choice but to confront their attackers directly.
Using her trained reflexes, Abigail managed to fend off the assailants. In contrast, Gideon was only an average fighter. While he managed to land a few punches, their numbers quickly started to overwhelm him.
Seeing his weakness, the gang split up; a few men pinned Gideon against the wall, while others slipped through a narrow passage, closing in on Abigail to trap her from both sides.
Despite her best efforts to fight them off, Abigail found herself on the defensive, narrowly dodging blows from multiple attackers.
As Gideon noticed a thug raising his club to strike Abigail, he sprang into action. He seized one of the attackers and forced his way through the crowd, determined to reach her no matter what.
After crashing into the attacker, Gideon broke free and paused to catch his breath. Just then, he noticed two iron rods swinging toward Abigail from behind.
Without thinking, he rushed back, wrapping his body around her to shield her.
The rods struck hard, slamming into the back of Gideon's head. He let out a choked groan and collapsed to the ground, unconscious.
"Gideon!" Abigail shouted, bending down to help him. But with him on the ground, she found herself exposed to the assailants closing in from both sides.
She had no choice but to let him go and quickly shift aside, desperate to avoid being caught between them.
Fueled by anger, Abigail targeted one of the attackers. She seized him, driving her knee into his chest with a fierce blow.
In one swift motion, she snatched the baseball bat from his hands and sent him sprawling with a powerful kick.
Now armed with a weapon, Abigail fought with renewed confidence, managing to keep the attackers at bay for the moment. However, they continued to swarm her, determined to wear her down.
Standing off to the side, the gang leader sneered, "Hey, beautiful, if you kneel and call me 'daddy,' I'll make them back off. What do you say?"
Abigail responded with a fierce punch to the nearest thug, sending him crashing to the ground. Without missing a beat, she hurled the bat at the gang leader, striking him squarely on the forehead.
"Is that the best you can do? You can't even dodge a bat, and you think you can call the shots? Keep dreaming!" Abigail taunted as she rejoined the fight.
The gang leader clutched his swollen forehead, hissing in pain. He quickly snatched a steel pipe from one of his men, rolled up his sleeves, and charged at her.
"Make way!" he shouted.
With that, his henchmen stepped aside, clearing a path.
The gang leader lunged at Abigail, raising the pipe high above his head, ready to strike.
But just as he was about to land a hit, a figure burst through the crowd from the alley behind him. With a powerful leap, he kicked the gang leader hard in the waist, sending him sprawling to the ground.
Abigail looked up to see Taylor raising his fist defiantly, boldly taunting the attackers. "Her best friend is right here! Who do you think you are, you filthy dog?"
For a brief moment, Abigail froze, caught off guard by Taylor's words.
Best friend? Did he view her as a little sister, or was there something deeper behind that?
Meanwhile, the gang leader struggled to sit up, his face contorted with rage and humiliation as he shouted a furious command. "Damn it! Make sure to beat them senseless!"
In an instant, the alley erupted into chaos again. This time, though, Taylor and Abigail fought in perfect sync, quickly carving a path through their attackers.
"Get out of here!" Taylor shouted, stepping toward the group of assailants. He braced himself to take on the remaining fighters alone.
Abigail nodded and rushed to help Gideon. However, after exhausting herself in the fight, she found it difficult to lift him. Leaning against the wall for support, she slowly began to move forward.
Capitalizing on his stamina, Taylor took down the front line of attackers, creating a temporary barrier.
Just as he sprinted away, he noticed Abigail struggling. Gritting his teeth, he dashed back and hoisted Gideon onto his back.
Before Abigail could protest, Taylor barked, "You're shorter than me! Get to the front; I can keep up! Go now!"
With the gang regrouping, Abigail had no choice but to trust him. She turned and sprinted toward the alley entrance, determined to escape.
