“All I can do now is light a lamp for her, pray for her next life, and seek forgiveness.”
Kael' voice trembled, unsteady like a newborn cub' first steps.
“Master, your sins may be atoned for with a lamp, but how can I ever atone for mine?”
The monk said nothing, his gaze drifting past Kael' shoulder.
When Kael turned, he found the human scribe from before.
“Master,” the scribe said, bowing, “I've come to pay respects to nameless.”
Kael followed them to a moss - covered hillock where a weathered stone stood, etched with a single word: Nameless.
“Who is buried here?”
His voice cracked.
“You already know, Alpha .”
Kael' vision blurred.
