By the time Sebastian came downstairs after changing, Penelope was already seated calmly next to Xavier. "You're amazing, Xav. What would you like me to get you?" she praised, never once glancing at the wine glass. She couldn't afford to let Sebastian suspect she had drugged him, so she had to make things seem natural. The dealer had said that the drug would silently stir up one's most primal desires, and the thought of it excited her. As she chatted with Xavier, she saw Sebastian drink unsuspectingly from the glass. Her heart palpitated wildly. It worked! There was no way she would lose to Julia now. So what if she had given birth to Xavier? Penelope was the next Mrs. Holt. Ambition flickered in her eyes as she told herself that. Penelope had never intended to drug Sebastian.
