Elijah and Selena's eyes met, and the air around them froze. Elijah gulped involuntarily. The uncontrollable tenderness he'd felt just moments ago vanished, replaced by panic. He jerked upright reflexively and calmly fixed his tie, gazing to the side. "I saw you were asleep. I was going to carry you back to your room," he explained. Selena rubbed her eyes and sat up on the couch, still groggy. She didn't think much about what he said and mumbled, "Oh." Seeing that she didn't react, Elijah awkwardly said, "I'll head back first."
