"Six years ago, I was already with Jenny? Who told you that? Even reporters have to follow the law—spreading lies is illegal," Beckett turned around, eyes sharp as he faced the media crowd.
"It was Miss Merritt who posted it on Twitter… along with a voice clip. It's your voice, saying you'd take responsibility," one of the reporters stammered, visibly nervous under Beckett's intense gaze.
No doubt, Beckett's presence was crushing.
He let out a short laugh—Jenny really had no shame left.
"Carl, start gathering evidence. We're suing for defamation. I don't care if it's Jenny herself or any reporter spreading this crap—no one gets a free pass," he said coldly, then walked straight to the elevator.
Jenny had thought that releasing a voice clip where Beckett seemingly promised to "take responsibility" would back him into a corner. If he refused to marry her, at least she could gain public sympathy—and save her crumbling family's reputation.
But she underestimated Beckett.
