Chapter 711

"Daphne, Faith," Cameron called out. "I'll show you two to the third floor." "Okay, Mr. Cameron," Daphne chirped enthusiastically. She'd be staying under the same roof with Cameron from today onward, so she'd be able to take care of him every day. "I'm coming with you," said Laura. She wanted to know just what Cameron was hiding from her. Why was he behaving so strangely after they entered the villa? Cameron hesitated. "All of you can just wait for me downstairs," he said. His skin was crawling, but he tried his best to stay calm. Then, Laura said, "Am I not welcome here?" "Of course, not." Cameron shook his head. "It's just too troublesome for you to go upstairs, so just wait for me here." "It's not," said Laura. "I want to pick a room for myself too." Cameron's heart leaped into his throat. "You're staying here too?" This could've been the best thing he'd heard today. However, he still hadn't told Laura the truth. If she stayed there tonight, she'd definitely find out that Tracey was staying there as well. Cameron's back broke out in a cold sweat. "What's wrong? Can I not stay here?" Laura was surprised at how he reacted to her decision to stay at the villa. He was the one who asked her to stay just a few days ago. She'd refused him at that time because she had to settle some urgent family matters. "Of course, you can!" Cameron nodded convincingly so that she wouldn't suspect him. "Let's head upstairs then." A gentle look returned to Laura's face. Cameron, on the other hand, inhaled sharply. He thought that he was doomed. All he could do for now was pray to God that Laura wouldn't pick any bedrooms on the second floor. If she did, things would turn awfully bad. Then, with a heavy and fearful heart, Cameron led Daphne, Faith, and Laura up the stairs. When they reached the second floor, he swore he could even hear his heart hammering in his chest. His forehead broke out in a cold sweat. Fortunately, Laura didn't say that she wanted a bedroom on the second floor. She simply followed him up to the third floor in silence. Cameron secretly heaved a sigh of relief. He'd brushed shoulders with a disaster. "Daphne, Faith, Laura, all the rooms here are empty," he said, trying to appear calm. "Take your pick." "I want this one!" Daphne picked one of the bedrooms that was close to the middle. It gave her a sense of security. "I'll take this one then," said Faith, pointing at the bedroom next to the one Daphne picked. "Okay," Cameron said. Turning to Laura, he asked, "And you, Laura?" "I want to go to the second floor," Laura said. "The second floor?" Cameron's heart skipped a beat. Instantly, he felt as if the air had been sucked out of his lungs, and he couldn't think straight. "Yeah." Laura knew that Cameron's bedroom was on the second floor. She wanted to pick a bedroom that was close to his. Naturally, Cameron knew what she was thinking. He should've been immensely glad to know that she wanted to be close to him. The closer Laura's bedroom was to his, the more he could spend time with her so that their relationship could become stronger. However, the bedroom next to his bedroom belonged to Tracey. If Laura went downstairs to check out the rooms, she'd find out that the room next to his was already occupied. "What's wrong?" Laura asked with a confused frown. "Are you hiding something from me? Why do I feel like you've been acting strange ever since we got back here?" She couldn't suppress her curiosity anymore. Cameron started, "Laura, there's something I want to tell you, but please don't be mad at me." He knew that he couldn't hide things from her anymore, so he decided to just tell her right away. "What is it?" Laura asked. "Can you first promise me that you won't get mad at me?" "Okay." "U-Um… To be honest, Tracey moved into this villa a few days ago too," Cameron admitted. When he finished talking, he sensed that the air around Laura had turned cold instantly.
