Chapter 710
Cameron slapped a hand to his forehead.
He'd totally forgotten about that!
He forgot to tell Laura that Tracey was staying at the villa.
If Laura found out about it on her own, she might think that he purposely lied to her.
"What's wrong? Did you leave something at the hospital?" Laura gently asked after sensing how oddly Cameron was behaving.
"No…" Cameron shook his head, his expression turning unnatural.
"What's wrong?" she asked again, confused.
Why was he acting so strangely?
"It's nothing. It's been quite some time since I've been back here," Cameron mustered. "I'm just not used to it here."
He made that up. He hoped against hope that Tracey would return to the Jennings residence later and not spend the night at the villa.
That way, he'd have enough time to mentally prepare to explain himself to Laura.
"Okay," Laura mumbled.
She knew he had something on his mind, but she didn't put much thought into it. She'd ask him about it after Daphne and Faith settled down in the villa.
She was staying here tonight, after all, so she would have ample time to ask him anything.
"Whoa! This villa is huge!" Daphne exclaimed after stepping foot into the house.
Faith was as thrilled as Daphne as she glanced around the house. Faith grew up in a poor family, so she'd never seen such a grand villa before.
"D-Do I really get to stay here?" Faith muttered to herself in disbelief.
She thought of how penniless she was and thought that it wasn't right for her to stay there.
"Of course, you do," Cameron told her. "Make yourself at home."
He knew her concerns.
"W-Well then… I'll do all the housework here," said Faith. She would feel bad for staying there free of charge without contributing much.
"You don't need to. The housekeepers will come and tidy up the place once a week," said Cameron. "All you need to do is keep Daphne company."
A moment later, he added, "Also, just make yourself at home."
"I-Is that alright?"
"It's fine." Cameron gave her a smile.
"Cameron! You're back!" Lena exclaimed as she and Tara made their way down the stairs. They heard some commotion coming from downstairs and figured that Cameron and the others had returned.
Before coming home, Cameron had told Lena and Tara beforehand that Daphne and Faith would be moving into the villa too.
"Yep. I'm back," Cameron greeted them both.
Daphne saw the two women coming downstairs.
She turned to Cameron with her big, curious eyes and asked, "Mr. Cameron, are they the colonel and the doctor you kept telling me about? Are they your girlfriends too?"
Lena's and Tara's cheeks flushed red, and they turned to look at Cameron.
Was that what he told Daphne?
An awkward Cameron cleared his throat. His cheeks were red from embarrassment too.
"They're my friends, Daphne," he said.
Daphne nodded with understanding. "I see."
These two women were Cameron's friends, but someday in the future, a friend could become a girlfriend too.
Daphne thought that Cameron was so extraordinary that he managed to capture the hearts of four pretty ladies.
"Stop overthinking, silly," Cameron chastised, flicking a finger at the back of her head. "You and Faith can have the rooms on the third floor."
It wasn't that the second floor had no empty rooms. He specifically made this arrangement because he wanted to stay away from the second floor.
Tracey's room was on the second floor and right beside his. So, if they all walked past Tracey's room, Laura would notice that something was off.
If that happened, it would be the doom of him.
The thought made him feel anxious and panicky.
Noticing this, Laura frowned a little.
Her instincts told her that Cameron was hiding something from her.
