Chapter 709
"Don't thank us," said Laura and Tracey in unison. "It's all for Daphne, not you."
Amusingly, they turned their noses up at him at the same time too. It wasn't every day Cameron got to witness such tacit understanding between the two of them.
Cameron smiled warmly at them. He knew what they were thinking.
Just then, Daphne said, "Mr. Cameron, these two seem to like you a lot."
She looked at Cameron, then at Laura and Tracey. Her gaze shifted between the three of them as she blinked innocently.
"Um…" Cameron didn't know how to respond to that.
Daphne just placed him in an awkward situation. After all, what Daphne heard about his girlfriend getting pregnant was just a lie that was meant to give her the will to live.
Laura's and Tracey's faces flushed red.
In an amiable tone, Tracey asked, "Daphne, would you like us to keep you company from now on?"
Laura glanced at Daphne too as if waiting for an answer.
"That'd be great!" Daphne yelped in joy. "Once I recover, I'll be the one taking care of you two."
"You're so sweet, Daphne," said Tracey.
"We can take care of ourselves, so don't worry," Laura said.
But Daphne was a stubborn one. "No way. It's my job to take care of you two."
Tracey giggled. "Okay then. You can look after us when you get better."
There was no reason to refuse Daphne's kindness, after all.
"Okay!" Daphne beamed. Then, she turned to Cameron and asked, "Mr. Cameron, when can I be discharged?"
"Discharged?" Cameron paused. "You only just got better. Are you that eager to leave this hospital?"
"I'm fine," Daphne insisted. She bit her lip and muttered, "I don't want to stay in the hospital. I want to go home with you."
The environment at the hospital made her anxious somehow, and she was worried that Cameron would leave her again after she had fully recovered.
"Get well soon, silly," Cameron told her. "I promise you that I won't leave again now that I'm back."
He knew what she was thinking. To stop her from worrying, he added, "Besides, even if I had to leave, I'll take you along with me."
"Really?" Daphne's hopeful eyes glinted when she spoke.
Cameron nodded to reassure her. "Of course. So, I want you to take good care of yourself."
"Okay." This time Daphne nodded her head seriously.
Just then, Faith entered the ward with a flask of warm water, which she'd use to help wipe down Daphne.
Two days later, Daphne was almost fully recovered after Cameron transferred vital energy into her body.
`
Now, there were just some scratches and wounds on her body and some slight internal injuries. He decided that he would prepare some medicine for her when he got back home.
Meanwhile, Daphne couldn't wait to leave the hospital. With no other choice, Cameron went through the discharge papers.
…
Darkness blanketed the skies.
Cameron, Daphne, Faith, Laura, and Tracey arrived at Platinum Residence in a Maybach.
For now, Cameron thought of having Daphne and Faith stay there instead of making them go back to the Morgan estate.
He was afraid that history would repeat itself.
By keeping Daphne by his side, he could make sure that she was safe.
Laura and Tracey followed behind Cameron and Daphne.
For now, Tracey would stay here too.
And since Laura had settled her family's affairs, she would fulfill her promise by moving into the villa too.
As the four of them entered the villa, Cameron's heart skipped a beat.
It occurred to him that he'd forgotten something extremely important.
He stopped in his tracks.
"Oh no!" He thought. "How could I forget that?"
