Chapter 136
Suzanne's gaze lingered on the car for a moment before she smirked slightly. She was thinking of Austin. She finally answered, "It's a family gift."
To her, Austin was family—far more than Henry ever was.
Cheryl nodded, and there was a hint of envy in her tone. "Oh, okay."
They got into the car, and Suzanne started driving toward the karaoke joint. Keeping her eyes on the road, she asked casually, "Cheryl, have you thought about switching jobs?"
If there was an opportunity, she'd love to recommend something better for her—something that wouldn't have her scrubbing dishes and running deliveries all night.
Cheryl was tapping away on her phone, replying to messages. She chuckled lightly. "With my experience? I'm not exactly in high demand. The job market sucks right now. It doesn't really matter where I go."
For her, having any steady income was already a blessing. At least this way, she could still manage to scrape by even with her mom, Jenny White's, medical bills.
