Chapter 4
Hearing my words, Harold assumed I had been won over. He pulled me into his arms and patted me on the shoulders.
"Darling, it's been six years since we got married. Don't you think it's about time we try for a baby?
"However, you'll be busy with both the baby and the house. You won't have much energy for anything else. I can help handle the designs to lighten your burden, okay?"
I lowered my gaze, scoffing inwardly.
Previously, when I brought up having children, Harold always gave the excuse of company matters requiring his attention.
To think this asshole would initiate the talk of wanting a child just to get my copyrights! Bold of him to assume he'd get the last laugh!
I chuckled, handing him the divorce agreement I had printed earlier, "Honey, you read my mind! How did you know I planned on transferring the copyrights to you as our anniversary gift?"
Harold was stunned at the sight of the copyright transfer agreement before him. He didn't expect things to go so smoothly.
Without giving him a chance to react, I flipped to the last page and handed him a pen I had prepared earlier. "What're you spacing out for? Go ahead and sign it."
Harold's hand paused midair as he looked at me with suspicion. "I have to sign this?"
I nodded earnestly and said, "Of course! You're the beneficiary, so you need to sign it too."
He was still deep in thought, hesitating to sign it.
I didn't push any further. Instead, I moved to take the agreement paper back. "What? You don't want it? I'll keep it for myself then."
Harold took the bait. He stopped hesitating and signed with a flick of his pen. After signing, he was worried that he had signed too quickly and wanted to look through the agreement again.
I pointed at the words "Copyright Transfer Agreement" written in bold on the cover page and raised my brow. "Can't you see what this is? It's a transfer agreement! What, you don't trust me now?"
I walked up to wrap my arm around his and quickly change the topic. "Now that I've handed you the copyrights, don't I deserve a reward? How about we go on the pirate ship and bungee jump again?" I asked.
Now, Harold was fully convinced. He couldn't even hide the excitement in his eyes.
He agreed without a second thought, spinning me in circles. He swore to not only go bungee jumping with me, but to give me anything I ever wanted.
"Darling, you wanted to see the northern lights at Northshire, right? After things settle down at work, let's go on a trip around the world."
I smirked and let out a cold chuckle. He didn't even know that we had no future left. Just moments ago, we got divorced.
After the bungee jumping, Harold threw up as he clung to a trash can. I couldn't even describe how elated that made me feel.
If we were going to get divorced, I had to make sure he suffered first!
After that, Harold drove me back. Unlike the trip here, he was humming cheerfully and rambling about our bright future on the way back.
Suddenly, his phone buzzed with a new message. He was quick to grab it, but I still got a glance at what was sent.
Sierra had sent him a photo of herself wearing a bathrobe. Her hair was still dripping wet and yet to be blown dry.
She sent a text, and it wrote, "Don't keep me waiting!"
Harold gulped and turned off the screen before giving me an awkward look. "Darling, it seems like something happened at work…
"I should probably just say no. After all, it's our anniversary and getting my lovely wife home is more important than business!"
He was so desperate to leave, yet he still acted like a doting husband.
It nearly made me gag. I spoke up, "Don't worry, you should handle it. I can call a cab to go home."
With my permission, Harold quickly dropped me off in a hurry. He didn't even seem to care that we were in the suburbs and it would be hard to get a cab here.
This asshole really was all talk!
…
After hailing a cab home, I treated myself to a hot bath.
I scrubbed every inch of my body that Harold laid his hands on with a sponge ball, as if trying to wash his filth off me. The clothes that smelled like him were thrown into the trash as well.
After washing up, I got ready to go to bed. Just then, Sierra sent me a message.
There was a photo of Harold's side profile, and even more photos of her being intimate with Harold.
"I know you've figured us out. That's right! Harold and I are in a relationship!"
"I'll tell you the truth. Not only do Harold and I already have a family, but we have a child too. You have nothing compared to us! If you know what's good for yourself, then get lost, loser!"
I knew that Sierra was purposely taunting me. But instead of being mad, I laughed.
Harold spent so much effort plotting, but Sierra was far more stupid. If Harold knew Sierra stirred trouble and caused his plan to fail, he would probably want to kill her!
I didn't even bother to respond. I gave a call to my senior, Jayce Sutton.
"Jayce! You wanted to start a company with me back then, right? I want to take you up on your offer."
Previously, Jayce had his eye on me because of my skills. He had invited me to partner up with him multiple times. However, I always rejected him for Harold.
Now, I wanted to live for myself.
