Chapter 6

With Harold's silent approval, Sierra kept pushing her luck. "Pay up, Mrs. Jackson! Don't waste everyone's time any further. If anyone speaks up for her, I'll make you pay too!" she threatened. My colleagues all turned on me, urging me to pay up. I chuckled as I reached for my resignation letter. However, Sierra thought I was laughing at her and got frustrated. "What? You're not going to pay up, and you still have the nerve to laugh at me? I'll get you fired, Mrs. Jackson!" I tossed the resignation letter out with a flick of my wrist. "Don't trouble yourself. I'm quitting." Harold was stunned. He didn't expect I'd be convinced so easily. However, since he intended to drive me out from the start, he took the letter and was about to sign it. I stopped him and demanded, "Wait. Give me my unpaid salary for the past years before signing that, Mr. Atkins." After all, he had been using the excuse that we were family to exploit me all these years. He had never paid me a salary once. Now that I was leaving, I had to take back what I was owed. Harold's gaze darkened upon hearing that. "You've learned so much from the company! I didn't even charge you for training fees, so how could you demand more money like this?" I laughed grimly in response. "Harold, are you trying to burn bridges with me now that you've got the copyrights?" I snapped. Harold's face turned pale. He couldn't keep up the act any longer. "The copyrights belong to the company. If you hadn't clung to them all these years, our company growth wouldn't have been so slow!" he roared. "You ought to be thankful I'm not bringing up the losses our company has made. Don't push your luck!" I glared at him. "And what if I insist on getting compensation?" Harold narrowed his eyes as he called for security. "Then I will have to get security to escort you out." Sierra was delighted. The others tried to calm things down. They urged me to leave before things got worse. Since that was the case, I had no reason to play nice. I nodded in thought as I said, "Sure! I can go without asking for compensation." Harold's gaze softened as he thought that I was complying. However, I continued, "But I'm taking everything I own along with me." Sierra scoffed and dumped everything in my drawers into the trash bin, before tossing that out too. "Don't bother! I've packed everything up for you. Just take it and scram!" I didn't move. Sierra rushed me impatiently and demanded, "What are you waiting for?" I turned and walked into the archive room. I took the design drafts and put them into my bag. "These are mine too. I'm bringing them with me." "Put them down!" Harold roared, furrowing his brow. Sierra joined in mockingly, "Don't forget, Susie! You handed over the copyright transfer agreement yesterday! The copyrights and drafts belong to the company now! "If you take these with you, we'll sue you for infringing on company property!" I simply glared at her as she called her lawyer, Steven Stone, in a fit of rage. She shrieked that she'd sue me. Once Steven arrived, Harold handed the "copyright transfer agreement" over to Steven as evidence. Once Steven looked at the documents, his expression darkened. Harold and Sierra looked smug as they said condescendingly, "If you beg and apologize to us, I can reduce your sentence since we were once lovers. That way, you won't have to go to jail." However, Steven furrowed his brow. "Mr. Atkins? Are you sure this is the transfer agreement? Isn't this a divorce agreement between you and Mrs. Jackson?"
