“Oh, no need—”
I didn’t get to finish my sentence because I saw Noah walking toward me. I pursed my lips to stop myself from talking.
Aiden gestured for Hannah to come over. “After them, I’ll take a picture of you and my uncle too,” he said, looking proud of himself.
“Okay,” Hannah replied with a smile.
By the time I turned my attention back, Noah was standing next to me. One hand was in his pocket, the other hanging by his side. His shoulder was only a few inches away from mine, so our hands brushed briefly. The coolness of his fingertips sent a shiver down my spine, and I instinctively pulled my hand behind my back, making sure our hands only touched for a few seconds.
I inhaled deeply, trying to focus on something else as I stared straight ahead.
Aiden raised his phone earnestly. “Uncle, smile please…”
Noah gave a slight, indifferent smile, barely shifting his expression.
“You too, Aunt Olivia, smile too,” Aiden added, looking at me expectantly.
It felt like a silent command,
