"Keep moving," Dmitri said quietly, and I did, walking through the casino floor like I owned it. Which, apparently, I partially did.
We passed through several more levels, each more explicitly illegal than the last. The Market buzzed with transactions I didn't want to examine too closely. The Floor featured fighting rings where money changed hands based on blood spilled. The Chambers had a quieter, more insidious energy—deals being made in shadow that would reshape the legitimate world above.
Finally, we reached the Pit.
The elevator opened onto a concrete corridor that looked more like a prison than a club. Harsh lighting, bare walls, and the smell of fear and old blood. I could hear sounds echoing from deeper in—crying, screaming, pleading.
My stomach turned, but I forced my expression to remain impassive. The old Xenois wouldn't react to these sounds. They'd be background noise.
