They showed me three more videos. In each one, the man I was watching bore my face but seemed like a complete stranger. The way he moved, the way he spoke, the complete lack of empathy in his eyes—it was chilling.
In one video, I watched myself calmly break someone's fingers one by one while discussing stock portfolios with Dmitri, as if the screaming man between them was just background noise. In another, I saw myself hold a heated blade inches from someone's face while explaining exactly what would happen if they didn't provide the information I wanted.
But what disturbed me most wasn't the violence—it was the coldness. The complete detachment. Like these people weren't really people to me, just obstacles or tools to be used as needed.
