Chapter 23

LUNETH I am not really an early morning person but to make sure that I was the kind of wife that Kellan would be proud of having, I woke up and forced myself out of bed when everywhere was still dark and even though that reality is way over me, I still wonder why I had gotten up before dawn and sat on the couch. I would have sworn to anyone that I had left that life behind me, and all was now over for me. I would have said that this was not supposed to affect my reality, and I was supposed to be still lying in bed. My mind had been racing with my conversation with Elena from yesterday; when I told her I was going to pay her off to leave me alone, she laughed and said she wondered how much I could give her that she could not get for herself. She told me to surprise her before she cut off the call. I had thought that flashing a few million her way would be the best way to get her to back off, at least for a while, because I know that she would not leave so early, but then I might be able
