Chapter 1488
Her movements were so stiff that she felt like a robot, but she persevered.
She stood on tiptoes and stared at the handsome face in front of her.
They were standing so close together that she could see his eyelashes very clearly and see herself in his pitch-black pupils.
Just a little closer, and she would kiss him!
If she did that, he would believe her, right?
He would believe that she had truly forgiven him and believe that she wouldn't leave him!
She wished he knew how much she loved him! She didn't want to miss out on him!
He was probably the man who loved her the most in the world. No other man would love her like he did.
The truth behind the accident had indeed caused her a lot of pain, and she had indeed hated him for a brief period of time, but the secret must have tormented him greatly too.
Now that she thought about it, he had asked her more than once if she would forgive him if he ever wronged her.
Was he living in constant fear of her discovering the truth back then?
If she could only prove herself with her actions, then she would prove it to him...
With stiff movements, Serenity tiptoed a little higher, letting her lips move a little closer to his.
His scent engulfed her, and his face enlarged in her vision. That made her body tense up even more.
She closed her eyes and told herself that all she had to do was kiss him and he would trust her.
Just one kiss, and he wouldn't misunderstand anymore!
Her heart raced. The moment her lips finally touched his, her body trembled. Almost immediately after, she took a hasty step back, covered her mouth with one hand, and rushed to the bathroom.
"Blurgh... Blurgh..." Serenity bent over the sink and puked.
She threw up almost everything she ate that morning.
After a while, her vomiting finally stopped. She propped herself up on the sink weakly with both arms. Suddenly, as if she realized something, she turned her head towards the door and found Jackson standing there.
He simply stood at the door quietly, his profound eyes thick with self-deprecation and hurt. "You can't do it, Serenity. Your body can't lie."
"No, I..." she anxiously tried to explain, but he cut her off.
"You're only willing to forgive me because of the babies, right? You don't want the babies to grow up in a broken home, and that's why you're willing to forgive me! I know that, but... I wish a tiny part of the reason is because you love me."
"No, it's not because of the babies! I'm willing to forgive you because I love you, Jack! It's because I love you!" Serenity suppressed her discomfort and said loudly.
"Is that so?" He slowly lowered his eyes. "If you really love me, then stay in this mansion and don't go anywhere. We still have decades ahead of us..."
Even if her love for him was gone, he still had decades to make her fall in love with him again!
"I'll tell the nurse to come take care of you," Jackson said, then turned around and walked out of the room.
Serenity bit her lip. Staring at Jackson's back, she could only smile bitterly.
He didn't believe her at all.
