Chapter 522

Evelyn's heart ached when she read Gigi's message. As a mother, how could she not worry about her child? Gigi was her flesh and blood. No matter how spoiled or willful she was, she was still her daughter. Evelyn would never allow anyone to mistreat her. In the end, her heart overruled her head after reading her daughter's message. Evelyn responded, "Hang in there. I'm on my way to find her." Evelyn had an informant in Phoenix Villa. As soon as Nadine stepped foot into the villa, her informant had reported it to her. Consequently, she knew exactly where Nadine was at this moment. It was only a ten-minute drive from Clover Villa to Phoenix Villa. Her daughter's well-being was more important to her than her own pride. It was humiliating, but her daughter's happiness was more important. Evelyn gently called out to Daniel, who was lying beside her. Noticing that he was sound asleep and unresponsive, she quietly got up, wrapped herself in a knee-length puffer coat, and slipped out of their bedroom. Daniel hadn't fallen into a deep sleep. As soon as he heard his wife leave the room, he hastily changed his clothes and quietly followed behind her. Evelyn was certain Nadine was staying at Phoenix Villa that night and wasn't planning on leaving. If she missed her chance, she might not have another opportunity to see her. Without a moment's hesitation, Evelyn drove to Phoenix Villa. As soon as she got out of the car, she made a beeline for the second floor. Readying herself to intimidate Nadine, she stopped in her tracks at the staircase and took a few deep breaths to center herself. Once she felt her presence was imposing enough, she clicked her way up to the second-floor master bedroom in her high heels. "I know you're in there, Nadine Scott. Show yourself!" she demanded, her voice echoing through the hallway. When no response came, she shoved the bedroom door open in a fit of rage. To her surprise, Brad was the only one inside. The large bed in the room was long gone, and even the couch had been replaced with a new one. The man lounged on it, his gaze cold and cutting, with a sinister glint in his eyes. His expression hardened when he noticed Evelyn barge in without so much as a knock. He set his iPad down and regarded her with a cold, hard stare. "It's late. What do you want?" Ever since he found out that Evelyn had sided with Jean and deliberately let her slip into his bed, he'd been nothing but displeased with her. He hadn't called her, hadn't said a word to her, and hadn't even shared a single meal with her. He was giving her the cold shoulder. Even though his voice was low, she could still sense his dissatisfaction. Evelyn looked around the room but didn't see Nadine anywhere. All she saw was Brad sitting there with a dark and brooding expression. Her heart missed a beat, and she hurriedly said, "Nothing much. I just haven't seen her in a while and thought I'd chat with her for a bit." Brad's expression was solemn, his thin lips pressed into a straight line. Evelyn was aware that his patience was growing thin, so she chose not to reveal her real purpose for seeking Nadine out. "Is Nadine... not here?"
