Chapter 536

Realizing Nadine was genuinely pissed off, Brad, ever the smart aleck, raised his wristwatch and held it up in front of her. "You're going to be late." Nadine was truly panicking now. Without a second thought, she swung her handbag straight at Brad's annoyingly handsome face. "You bastard! Die already! Of all the things you could be, why do you have to be a total jerk? Who the hell do you think you are?" Brad wasn't an idiot. As soon as he noticed her raising her bag to hurl at him, he raised his hand to block it. And as he did so, he grabbed her bag and effortlessly yanked it right out of her hands. Now that her bag was in his possession, he whistled in delight. "Wow, I can't believe you're giving me such an expensive gift! This seems a little excessive, don't you think? But hey, if you really want to give it to me, I suppose I have no choice but to accept it." He held onto her bag and slid into his silver-gray Bentley Mulsanne. Once he settled into the driver's seat, he casually waved her bag out the window and grinned like he hadn't done anything wrong. "You're going to be late if we don't get going! Since you're so in love with me, I'll take you to the hospital. Hop in!" Time was running out, and Brad still had her bag. No matter how furious she was, it didn't change a thing. Nadine shot daggers at Brad before she begrudgingly made her way into his car and yanked open the rear door. As soon as she pulled open the door, he ordered, "Get in the front!" She hesitated, glaring at him with eyes practically ablaze with fury. But Brad wasn't giving her any wiggle room. Dangling her bag outside the window, he threatened, "If you don't, I'll toss your bag out." Grinding her molars in frustration, she knew she had no choice but to get in the passenger seat. She just had to sit in the front seat—it wasn't the end of the world. So, she decided to just go along with it. Nadine climbed into the front seat despite her reluctance and strapped on her seatbelt, too furious to say a word to Brad. He was acting like a complete psycho at that moment, and she wanted nothing to do with him. Brad couldn't hide his delight as he started the engine. As he steered the car, he said, "You know, you look awful when you're upset. Come on, give me a smile!" Nadine turned her head away, gazing out the window and refusing to acknowledge him. She vowed to herself that once she got her bag, she would smash Brad's head in. "Nadine, I remember you used to love me a lot. How can you just decide you don't love me anymore? If you fell out of love that quickly, was it ever real?" She felt even less inclined to respond. She squeezed her eyes shut, pretending to be asleep, making it clear she wasn't interested in talking to him. In the past, Brad would have been livid. But now he wasn't upset at all. In fact, he was oddly calm as he drove steadily to Harborview Hospital. "Nadine, why don't you move back into Phoenix Villa? I'll move out, so you and Sean can stay there. What do you say?" Nadine leaned against the car door, resting her head on the window, squeezing her eyes shut even tighter. Why was Brad being so annoying? Wasn't he supposed to be a distant, high-and-mighty guy? When did he become such a chatterbox? Move back into Phoenix Villa? What was wrong with him? This guy must have had half his brain soaked in water and the other half in flour! She really wanted to shake him until he got his thoughts straight. No one would spout such nonsense unless they had 20 years of brain damage.
