Chapter 44
Tears welled up in Eliana’s eyes as she stared at the picture of the man on the wall - Aidan scowled as he pointed at it, “This is your love for me - you love me so much that you went off to mess with another man behind my back! How could you still say that you’re the only man in my life, hmm? If you were me, would you believe what you’re saying right now? Eliana, oh Eliana - there’s only so much lying that you can do, you know.”
Eliana closed her eyes in frustration and bit the corner of her lip angrily - she regretted not jumping out of the window on the fateful day when she’d almost been violated. Perhaps, she wouldn’t be suffering so much humiliation and misunderstanding at this very moment…
Maybe I wouldn’t be suffering so much now had I died that day...ugh, I’ve really had enough of this torturous and miserable life.
I used to be a princess, a shining pear, doted by my loving parents, cared for and raised by my loving grandmother...but what am I now? I’ve been reduced to a good-for-nothing woman at the constant mercy of a wicked and cold-hearted man who doesn’t believe anything that I say...I can’t believe what my life has come to.
Just then, Aidan reached out to pull Eliana by the hell - “What’s the matter now, hmm?” he sneered, “Why aren’t you saying anything? Weren’t you so fiery and indignant earlier, hmm? What happened now? Cat got your tongue?”
Eliana did not say anything - instead, she simply bit her lip and opened her eyes such that she was looking into Aidan’s eyes.
“Since you betrayed me for this man…” Aidan brooded, “I’m going to make you look at him every day from today onwards - look at his face and think about what you’d done. You’d better repent and reflect on your sins.” He then shoved Eliana back onto the bed, scoffed, and stormed out of the room.
Eliana, who’d retreated on the bed, slowly looked up after he left - as soon as she spotted the man’s pleasured expression on the wall, however, she clasped her hands over her ears and let out a blood-curdling scream. She then leaped out of bed to grab a chair before hurling it at the picture.
The picture instantly fell to the ground, the glass shattering everywhere across the ground and the bed - yet, Eliana did not feel the slightest bit relieved. She scurried over to pick up the chair again and continued to smash the picture with it - she did not stop even when she’d stepped on broken glass and blood started to stain the bottom of her feet.
Even though Eliana felt as though she was about to collapse at any moment, she continued her brutal assault on the man’s picture, striking it over and over again with the chair. She wanted to destroy him - the man who’d nearly taken advantage of her and turned her life into more of a living hell than it already was.
Just then, Aidan burst into the room - he’d been disturbed by the loud noise and the commotion. He’d wanted to yell at Eliana - however, his heart sank as soon as he noticed the specks of blood littered across the ground. He immediately stepped forward and shoved Eliana onto the bed such that her feet were not touching the ground.
“Someone, please, help us!” Aidan hollered out. A servant instantly rushed in at his call - she was equally as horrified to see the bloodstains littered across the floor. “S-Second Young Master…” she stammered, not really knowing what to do.
“Go and get Travis,” he ordered. “Y-Yes, Second Young Master…” the servant immediately obliged and darted out of the room to get the former.
Eliana tried to get up, only to be held down by Aidan, who had his right hand wrapped around her neck - his left hand had been pierced slightly by one of the glass debris that had scattered across the bed. Alas, he paid his injured hand no mind - instead, he stared at Eliana and growled, “Eliana, stop this madness immediately! Do you want me to bring up your father so that you’ll finally stop?”
Just like he’d expected, Eliana instantly stopped struggling at the mention of her father - she closed her eyes and willed herself to come down. It was only at this moment did she become aware of the pain stinging at her feet. Seeing that she’d stopped trying to put up a fight, Aidan released her - he noticed that there was so much blood that it’d even gotten onto the quilt which he’d been leaning against.
Just then, Robert scampered in and was bewildered to see the mess that had been made in Eliana’s room - as soon as he noticed Aidan’s injured hand, he started worriedly, “Second Young Master...your hand...it’s…” Alas, before he could finish his sentence, Aidan shot him a warning glare - Robert gulped and did not continue his sentence.
“Get someone to clean this mess up,” Aidan ordered, “Also, make a new picture - it must be stronger and more durable this time around.”
He then turned to Eliana and snarled at her, “Do you really think that you can pretend as though nothing had happened just by destroying the picture, the evidence? Ha, dream on - you know what? You can smash as many pictures as you want - maybe at some point in time you’ll stop and actually think about what you’ve done.”
Aidan then turned to Robert and commanded, “Watch her and don’t let her hurt herself - it’ll be enjoyable to torture and torment her so long as she lives on.”
