Chapter 45
Aidan then proceeded to storm out of the room - seeing that Eliana did not wish to speak, Robert did not say anything and simply stood by her side quietly. He couldn’t help but frown as he looked at the gash on Eliana’s feet - he remembered how she used to make a big fuss from just the prick of a finger alone. However, she wouldn’t even let out a cry or kick up a fuss even though she was badly injured now…
When Travis finally arrived and took a look at the wounds on Eliana’s feet, he couldn’t help but furrow his brows and look at Robert - “What happened this time?” While Robert was not very sure, he was quite certain that it had something to do with the picture - as such, he pointed at the picture on the wall and did not say anything.
Travis frowned before sighing, “Alright - Miss Harvey, this might hurt just a little bit. Please bear with it, alright?” And so, she did - Eliana was so strong and resilient that she did not make a single sound throughout.
“Alright, we’re done here,” Travis said as soon as he was done bandaging Eliana’s feet, “Have a good rest for the next couple of days and don’t move around so much, yeah? Also, it’s important to make sure not to get your feet wet,” he advised.
Eliana pursed her lips slightly, “Thank you, doctor,” she said politely. Travis chuckled slightly, “Now, now, there’s no need to be so polite and formal with me,” he then furrowed his brows as he turned to Robert and asked in a displeased voice, “Where is Aidan?”
“I believe that Second Young Master has returned to his room,” Robert informed. As soon as he said this, Travis took his medical bag and walked out - Robert contemplated for a moment before following him out. “Dr.Witton…”
Travis halted in his tracks and turned around. “Yes?” he asked.
“Second Young Master...his left hand is also injured. You might want to have a look at it…” Robert murmured. “What has he been up to all day?” Travis couldn’t help but wonder aloud as he made his way upstairs - he burst into Aidan’s study without knocking on the door as soon as he reached the room.
Aidan was about to yell in displeasure at the abrupt intrusion - alas, he calmed down upon seeing who it was. “Have her wounds been treated?” he asked in a cold voice. Travis chuckled as he walked over, “Of course - why else would I be here then? To do nothing and let her die?” he asked sarcastically.
Travis put his hands up in surrender when Aidan shot him an unamused look, “Geez, alright, alright, I was just joking, there’s no need to look at me like that. Yes, I’ve handled it. But, I must say...I really think that it’ll be better if she just starts a new life.”
Aidan ignored Travis’ sarcasm and tried to get up, only for Travis, who was sitting on the edge of his desk, to click his teeth at him - “Give me your hand. Now.” he ordered.
Aidan raised his hands to show that his left hand had stopped bleeding - “It’s alright, there’s no need to do anything about it.” he said in a low voice.
Alas, Travis ignored him and proceeded to disinfect his wound - he paused for a moment before he opened his mouth to speak, “I saw the picture on the wall - Aidan, honestly, why do you persist in keeping her here and tormenting her like this? Why can’t you just let her go, throw her out and let her fend for herself or something? It’s crueler to do this to her…”
“Don’t meddle in our affairs. You have no right.” Aidan cut him off coldly, “If I drive her out just like that, we’ll no longer have anything to do with each other.”
Travis instantly understood what Aidan was trying to express - as much as the latter hated to admit it, he refused to completely cut off ties with Eliana because he was still madly and deeply in love with her. He was so in love with her that he hated her - he hated how she’d taken his love for granted, how she’d trampled all over it and left him broken-hearted.
Travis did not say anything further and continued to bandage up Aidan’s wound quietly - as soon as he was done, he started to pack his medical bag. “You know - I think that Miss Harvey has really changed a lot,” he suddenly said, “Did you know that she didn’t even fret or make a single sound when I was treating her?”
Aidan’s face turned solemn at his words - he then stood up from where he was seated to walk over to and look out of the window. “You may go now,” he said to Travis.
“I’ll be leaving even if you aren’t kicking me out right now,” Travis joked before turning to leave - just as he was about to walk out of the room, there was a frantic knock at the door.
“Come in,” Aidan said in his usual cold and indifferent voice. Robert entered the room at this - he nodded at Travis in acknowledgement before informing Aidan in a rather anxious voice, “Second Young Master, something bad has happened to Bryan Harvey.”
