Chapter 64

Travis nodded, “I’m on Eliana’s side this time around - she risked her life to prove her innocence. What makes you think that Laura is incapable of lying?” Aidan couldn’t help but reflect on how he’d treated Eliana at Travis’ words - it was indeed true that he would always pin the blame on her so long as the matter concerned her. Not once did he wonder if Laura could be lying. “Haven’t you considered that Laura might be jealous of Eliana? After all, she’s still Miss Collins after so long - this would give her a reason to harass and attack Eliana.” Travis provided Aidan with many insinuations and hints - he hoped that his friend would finally wake up his idea and realize that he’d wronged Eliana. Aidan was silent for a moment before he asked in a confused voice, “Did...did I really wrong Eliana?” He paused for a while longer, as though he was silently contemplating his next move, before he got up and announced monotonously, “I’m going back to Blanchard Garden.” Just as Robert was about to follow him out, Aidan stopped him - “No, you don’t come along with me - I want you to stay here and keep watch over Eliana.” Robert nodded, “Yes, Second Young Master.” … Eddie was still sitting by Eliana’s bedside when Robert returned - as such, he waited outside so as not to disturb the former. Ten minutes later, Eddie came out of the room - he remembered Eliana telling him to be nice to Robert as the latter was reasonable and understanding. As such, he said to Robert politely, “Robert, my sister has yet to wake up - I’ll get going to see my father now. Is it alright that you get someone to call me when she wakes up?” Robert did not dare to decide without consulting Aidan - just as he was about to, with the encouragement of Eddie, however, Travis stepped in - “There’s no need to ask him, Robert - it’s a small matter,” he said. He then turned to Eddie and patted his back, “Go ahead and do what you wish.” “My sister’s fever has yet to subside...I hope that you will take good care of her,” Eddie said to Travis. The latter nodded, “I will do my best as a doctor to take care of her.” Eddie then turned to leave to find his father - since Travis had given him the green light to do so, Robert did not try and stop the former. At this very moment, Eliana lay motionless in the room, thinking - Eddie...you have to succeed...please… … When Aidan returned to Blanchard Garden, he walked into the backyard to see Evan Nelson playing with a Rubik’s Cube as he basked under the sunlight on the lawn. His face turned solemn as soon as he noticed the serious expression on the former’s face. Just as Aidan was about to go over to talk to the child, Laura came out of the guest house - “Aidan?” she cried out in surprise, “What are you doing here?” It was rare for Aidan to come here ever since she’d moved in here - as such, the latter couldn’t help but feel slightly appalled at the former’s unexpected visit. “Laura, I have something to ask you…” Aidan said seriously. Laura nodded and asked innocently, “Sure, what is it?” Aidan took a deep breath before he started, “I want to know what actually happened…” Aidan’s phone rang before he could complete his sentence - he picked it up upon seeing Robert’s name flashing on the screen. “Second Young Master, I have some bad news…” he started hesitantly, “Eddie and Mr Harvey...they’ve left.” Aidan froze - he had to take a moment to recover from what he’d just heard before stepping away from Laura to hiss into the phone, “What?! What do you mean that they left?!” “Eddie had said that he wanted to see Mr Harvey...I didn’t think that he would knock the nurse who was taking care of Mr Harvey out and leave together with him…” Aidan was furious - “You useless thing! How could you let him go just like that…” “I...I’m sorry, Second Young Master,” Robert apologized guilty, “I’ve failed in performing my duty - I...I hadn’t expected that Eddie would take Mr Harvey away and leave Miss Harvey behind…” Eddie left Eliana? Aidan couldn’t help but frown at this revelation. He seethed for a moment before he ordered coldly, “Send someone to find Richard and Eddie Harvey this instant.” He then hung up the phone and returned to Blanchard Garden. All of a sudden, Eliana’s actions seemed to make sense...it seemed as though the matter was not as simple as it appeared to be.
