Chapter 75
Eliana couldn’t help but feel her heart race when Laura said that Evan had a fever - she had a bad feeling about where this was going to go.
“What? What happened?” Aidan asked coldly. “Oh, Ellie said that Evan was a little dirty in the afternoon and offered to bathe him...I walked in while she was bathing him halfway...to find that the water was...a little cold.”
Aidan immediately turned around to grab Eliana roughly by the collar - “Didn’t I warn you to stay away from that little boy? Eliana, oh, Eliana - you’re absolutely vicious, aren’t you? You’re so ruthless that you won’t even spare a little boy - just what were you trying to do to him, huh?”
Aidan was, unsurprisingly, taking Laura’s side once again - Eliana sighed exasperatedly, “It was Laura who’d asked me to bathe the little boy. She persisted even after I told her that you didn’t want me to be anywhere near him. Aidan, do you really think that I would be foolish enough to bathe a little boy in cold water? I have no reason to do that to Evan - why would I try and hurt him?”
“It’s not Ellie’s fault,” Laura interjected, “Besides, the water wasn’t that cold - it was only...slightly cold. Plus, I’m also partly to blame - I was the one who’d let her bathe Evan even though I knew well that she has no experience caring for a child…”
“Laura, stop lying so blatantly.” Eliana seethed. “Ellie, please, I didn’t mean to blame you,” Laura whimpered, “There’s no need for you to accuse me - yes, I admit it. It is my fault. I thought that the temperature would be alright...I didn’t think that Evan would catch a cold. Oh, Aidan - what should we do now? Shall we send him to the hospital? It breaks my heart to see Evan in such a state…”
“Get it arranged.” Aidan immediately ordered Robert, who readily obliged. He then turned to Eliana and scoffed, “Do you see the difference between you and Laura? You always try and push the blame to her every time something goes wrong - on the other hand, she always takes accountability and even tries to speak up for you. You have no right to compare yourself to her - as I’d mentioned, she’ll never stoop to your level. In fact, no one will.”
Eliana couldn’t help but sigh internally as Aidan left - she knew that there was nothing that she could do to make him believe her instead of Laura.
…
Robert returned from the hospital the next day to inform Eliana that Evan had caught a bad cold and needed to be hospitalized for a few days. Since Laura would be nursing him at the hospital, Eliana didn’t have to go to the guest house for the next few days.
Eliana also did not see Aidan in the following week - this was the most relaxing and easiest time that she has had ever since she’d been released from prison.
On the other hand, this week was an extremely rough week for Frank and Priscilla, whom no one seemed to want to help save their son - no matter how hard they tried, Paul was still ultimately convicted of murder as all of the evidence pointed to him.
Frank and Priscilla were so frustrated that they had a row - the former then drove away to the place where they’d locked Eddie up to beat him to vent his anger. Even though Eddie tried to resist and put up a struggle, he was outnumbered - as such, he was beaten up so badly that he could barely get up from the ground when it was all over.
Eliana was completely oblivious to all of these.
Frank hovered over Eddie - he sneered as he grabbed the latter roughly by the hair, “You’re the one - I’ll be going for your father and sister next. I’ll make sure that each of you ends up worse than the other. No one in the Harvey Family shall escape our grasp.”
