Vivian sped all the way to the eastern outskirts.
It didn’t take her long to spot the abandoned factory near Moon Lake the kidnappers mentioned on the call.
But the second she stepped inside, her instincts kicked in—something was off. The place was completely empty.
She yanked out her phone and dialed the number from before.
A ringtone rang out loudly, echoing inside the factory.
Way too close.
Her eyes sharpened, locking onto where the sound was coming from, and she started moving toward it.
The phone was sitting inside a box behind an old oil drum. Clearly, someone left it there on purpose.
She hung up, slid her phone into her pocket, and bent down to open the box.
There was a crumpled-up piece of paper at the bottom.
She unfolded it. The message read: [This whole factory is wired with bombs. If you can disarm them all within 30 minutes and keep the place from going boom, Mrs. Sullivan goes home safe. Otherwise…]
No need to finish the sentence—it couldn't be more obvious.
