Alejandro's POV
As I stood on the edge of the ancient bridge, I watched the river below rush by as if it were trying to get away from something. I could hardly feel the cold wind. My mind was louder than the wind and the water.
Camila's quiet, faraway voice reverberated in my head.
"Alejandro, you can't abandon me."
I tried to block her out by closing my eyes, but she was always there.
"I need you."
I walked back toward the city, avoiding the river. The lights flickered, seemingly on the verge of exhaustion, and the streets remained empty. similar to me.
I went by the old café where we used to get together. The dusty windows and piled chairs adorned the tables. I recalled how she would laugh and throw her head back as if nothing else were important.
I continued to move, my footsteps resonating through the quiet. I was unable to remain motionless, but I had no idea where I was heading. Her voice lingered in my mind.
