Sebastian reached over, pulled out the seatbelt, and buckled it for Vivienne.
Vivienne froze, momentarily caught off guard.
Then, Sebastian's low voice brushed against her ear, calm and composed. "Buckle up."
From the backseat, Diana beamed with approval. "Vivienne, even in the passenger seat, you have to wear a seatbelt. Look at how thoughtful Sebastian is."
If Diana hadn't been sitting right there, Vivienne might've laughed.
Indeed. Sebastian was thoughtful enough to let another woman's scent, decor, and trinkets fill his car. He was even thoughtful enough to make it feel like Melanie belonged in this seat, not her.
Vivienne stayed quiet and simply turned to look out the window at the passing scenery.
Diana, oblivious to the tension, struck up a conversation with Sebastian. "Sebastian, I heard… your first love came back recently?"
