Serena felt like she was floating—light as a feather, completely weightless.
Her eyes stayed shut, her pale little face scrunched up tightly, and her forehead was damp with beads of sweat.
"You awake?"
The voice drifted over like it came from miles away.
She barely squinted, just enough to catch the warm sunlight pouring through the window—it felt oddly comforting, almost familiar, like déjà vu. Must be a dream.
Too drained to care, she shut her eyes again, planning to sleep just a bit longer.
"No point faking it if you’re already up."
Her eyelid twitched as she reluctantly opened one eye, peeking toward the voice—and then completely freaked out. She shot up like she’d been zapped by electricity, staring wide-eyed at Matthew, who was casually leaning against the headboard.
So, turns out that comfy spot she'd been laying on? It was his rock-hard chest. And the room? This was Cloudview Residences.
