CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND TWELVE – A NEW ALLY
Leo stepped inside, his gaze sweeping the room before landing on Cassie. She stood awkwardly by the bed, unsure what to make of this grizzled stranger.
"So, this is the girl worth throwing everything away for," Leo mused, giving Cassie an appraising look.
Florian moved to stand beside her, his arm slipping protectively around her waist. "This is Cassie. Cassie, meet Leo."
Cassie nodded, managing a small smile. "Nice to meet you. Thank you for coming."
Leo grunted, settling into the room's only chair. "Don't thank me yet. You two are in deep shit, you know that?"
Florian sighed, running a hand through his hair. "We know. That's why we need your help, Leo. We have to get out of the country."
Leo was quiet for a moment, his weathered fingers drumming on the armrest. Finally, he spoke. "I might be able to arrange something. But it won't be easy, and it sure as hell won't be cheap."
Cassie and Florian exchanged glances. "We don't have much money," Cassie admitted.
