Chapter 908
The elders were already worried that Moses might be aligning himself with the young lord, and his recent behavior only fueled their suspicions.
"Moses, you haven't actually contacted the young lord, have you?" Bernard asked.
"If I had contacted him, would I still be here having a secret meeting with you?" Moses replied.
Spearheading this matter, Owen was the most aggressive and was determined to eliminate the young lord.
"Moses, do you think we shouldn't deal with the young lord? Are we going to let a young man in his 20s come after us? Can your family's business over the past decades hold up to the scrutiny of the ancient medical creed?" Owen pressed.
"No. I just feel that without the Hippocrates Sect, Summerland will be on the verge of collapse."
"That's alarmist talk. The Hippocrates Sect has been destroyed, and the entire mountain has been flattened. Don't you wonder who the real culprit is? Besides, Summerland is still doing just fine," Owen retorted.
Sensing his subtext, Moses reluctantly nodded. "Alright, I'll go along with what you all decide. My family will do whatever you do."
"That's more like it. Our interests are aligned, after all. The reform of Summerland's medical community is something the five families will decide. It's not up to a little brat to teach us about the ancient medical creed," Owen said, with Bernard nodding in agreement.
"Exactly. The times have changed; the ancient medical creed might not even be useful anymore."
Pleased, Owen quickly poured coffee for everyone while saying, "Then, it's settled. I have a grandson in Jorsproburgh, and we'll stay with him. As for the siege of Innerzen Medical Center and capturing Cyrus' wife and daughter, we'll let the young people handle that.
"The moment Cyrus shows up, we'll strike him down."
Everyone nodded solemnly.
Moses glanced at the text message from his son. "Dad, we've arrived in Jorsproburgh and are preparing to move Cyrus' wife and daughter tonight."
"Let Yvonne accompany you. Otherwise, they might not trust us."
"Understood."
Glancing at Moses, Owen reminded him, "Moses, this is settled, then. No backing out, alright?"
"Of course," Moses replied with a smile.
"Exactly! I truly consider you a brother. Today, your son, Jethro, came to see me, but I threw him out," Owen said.
Moses snorted. "That rebellious son! I'll handle him myself."
The threat in Owen's words was palpable, as if he was implying that he'd allow Jethro to seize Moses' position if Moses refused to join them against the young lord.
The group deliberated on how to deal with the young lord, considering that just using silver needles might not be enough to kill him. Should they use poison? Or perhaps employ modern weapons from the Secret Realm, like explosives?
Clutching his phone, Bernard muttered, "Why can't I reach the supreme leader of the Secret Realm?"
"He's still at sea, no?"
"But he has a satellite phone."
While Bernard couldn't get through to the supreme leader, he did receive a call from a special number that simply had the number "1" displayed.
Frightened, the elders quickly fell silent and held their breath.
"Put it on speaker," Eldric whispered.
Bernard quickly answered the call.
"Greetings, my lord."
"Hello, Mr. Olsen. I heard that you've arrived in Centuria?"
"Oh, yes! I'm back to check on the children."
"Are Eldric, Moses, Douglas, and Owen also in Centuria?"
"Um… I'm not sure about them," Bernard said, blabbering on due to his extensive experience as a 150-year-old fossil.
