Chapter 885
Judy spoke firmly without giving Dominic any chance of rebuttal.
Dominic was no longer the same person. She knew herself too well. If she were to work with Reid Incorporated, she would use her old standards to work with them, but Dominic would no longer use the same standards. No one knew what would happen.
"I think we're done here." Judy looked at Dominic as if he was a stranger. "I'll head in. I'll pass your wishes on to Natalie and the others."
Dominic fists clenched tightly. His gaze darkened terrifyingly as he saw Judy entering the hair salon.
The moment Judy returned, Natalie asked her, "What was Dominic looking for you for?"
"Nothing. He just wanted to wish us a Happy New Year."
"Then why won't he come in?"
"He might still be busy."
"What could he be busy with? It's the New Year," Natalie muttered. "Is he still outside? I'll go and talk to him."
"Enough. Don't be so nosy. You'll annoy him." Madeline had long understood the situation. She rolled her eyes and told Natalie, "Just sit down."
Natalie did not notice what was happening. She happily took a few selfies and sent them to the group chat with Judy, Dominic, and Armand. "My new hair! Does it look good?"
No one replied. She raised her phone high up, thinking that the cell signal was weak.
Judy could not be bothered with her. She flipped through the magazine aimlessly, but all she thought was what Dominic said to her.
Clark was going to leave after the New Year. He did not mention it during lunch that day. The next day, it was New Year's Eve. Every city would usually have fireworks at midnight to welcome the New Year.
Natalie had been going on and on the entire day about watching the fireworks. "Kris, we have nothing to do here at night. Let's go to the city."
"No. It's freezing out there." Judy was always afraid of the cold. She finally had a holiday, and she wanted to spend it at home.
However, Natalie could not sit and do nothing. So, she secretly used the children to concoct a plan.
Sure enough, after dinner, Mabel happily ran over to Judy. "Mommy, let's go watch the fireworks tonight! Aunt Nat said that there will be fireworks in the shape of a bunny!"
Judy said, "She's lying to you!"
Natalie immediately said, "I'm serious! I'm not lying!"
Mabel blinked her innocent eyes at Judy. "Mommy, please!"
Judy helplessly shut her book and sighed. "Put on your jacket. Get Caleb along too."
"Yay! Caleb, we're going to watch fireworks!" Mabel immediately ran to look for Caleb.
Natalie's parents were watching the TV in the living area. When they heard that they were going to the city to see fireworks, all they said was for them to come home safely.
They had an early flight to catch the next day, if not, Madeline would have joined them too.
Judy drove to the city center and found a parking spot in no time. Judy asked suspiciously, "Is there no crowd for the fireworks?"
"Impossible. Most of them probably didn't take their car. Think about it. The city is left with mostly locals. They live nearby. They won't need to drive."
Judy parked the car. They came out of the underground parking lot to see that there was barely anyone in the square. Most of the shops were closed too. The busiest part of the city was awfully quiet.
"Aunt Nat, when will the fireworks start?" Mabel asked.
Natalie took her phone out. "Wait a minute. Let me check." After a moment, Natalie suddenly swore. "Damn it!"
