Chapter 886

"What is it?" Judy went over to look at Natalie's phone. She immediately saw the official notice from the city council about the fireworks being canceled due to their environmental impact. Judy and Natalie looked at each other. "So this is what you made me come out for?" Natalie was fuming. "Why didn't they inform us earlier?" Judy pointed at the time of the notice. "They announced it yesterday! You just didn't see it!" "Well, you didn't see it either! Neither did my parents! This notice has failed its purpose!" "You should also blame Mabel and Caleb for not seeing it then!" They were not people who paid attention to fireworks, so how could they know if it had been canceled? "I'm going to complain to the city council's marketing department!" "What's the reason?" "They have wiped out an important cultural event!" "They are doing it for the environment." "They could have chosen environmentally-friendly fireworks. Why didn't they prepare beforehand?" Judy was speechless. They had come in vain. On the way back, Natalie complained non-stop. Mabel asked, "Mommy, are there no fireworks?" "I don't think it'll happen this year," Judy consoled Mabel. "If you want to see fireworks, we'll go to the countryside to light our own fireworks in a few days. What do you say?" "Okay." Caleb felt nothing of it. He was still on his tablet playing video games. He was never interested in fireworks after all. He had seen lots of it in the past when he was abroad. It was almost midnight then. Judy was driving when suddenly a loud explosion rang out in the sky. A bright flurry of lights lit up the night sky. "Fireworks!" Natalie was the first to react. She looked out of the car window. "Stop the car! They're setting off fireworks!" Judy was stunned. "Didn't you say it got canceled?" "They must have heard my complaints! Kris, stop the car!" "I'll have to pull over. You can't just ask me to stop in the middle of the road, right?" Judy said helplessly while stopping the car by the roadside. Natalie immediately took the children out of the car. Although they were a little far from the city center, the fireworks were still brilliant. It lit up all of Tocham. Judy could not help but take a few photos. She felt an unspeakable warmth flow through her heart looking at the fireworks in the distance. She did not know why, but Tocham suddenly felt familiar to her once more. "Mommy! It's a bunny! There really is a bunny!" Mabel pointed at the skies, jumping in excitement. At that moment, Clark was standing by the balcony at the summer resort, looking at the fireworks in the distance. His phone vibrated. "Mr. Reid, we've sent all the environmentally-friendly fireworks over. The head of the marketing department wants me to thank you." "I'm looking at it right now." Clark looked at the fireworks in the distance. He beamed a little. He said, "Thank you. Sorry to make you work on New Year's Eve." "It's not a problem. Happy New Year, Mr. Reid." "Happy New Year."
