Chapter 887
Natalie insisted on showing Liam the fireworks through a video call. She stood in the cold for over half an hour.
Judy could no longer take it. She took the children back to the warm car to continue watching the fireworks. A long time later, Natalie finally came back shivering.
"I'm freezing."
Judy teased her. "Here I thought the cold wouldn't bother you. I thought you got your warmth through love. The power of love is a great thing, isn't it?"
"Alright. Stop with your sarcasm. Just drive. I'm dead sleepy. No one is allowed to wake me up tomorrow morning."
"No one is going to."
The journey back to Jones mansion took more than an hour. When they arrived, Natalie and the children were sleeping soundly. Judy had to call them a long time before waking them up.
Upon entering the house, Natalie yawned and returned to her bedroom. "I can't stand it anymore. I'm going to bed."
"Hey, hold up. Caleb still hasn't showered."
"It's fine. Boys can be a little dirty."
Judy was speechless. She rolled her eyes at Natalie. She had no choice but to bathe the two children on her own.
"Mabel, you'll shower first. Caleb, do you want to do it on your own or do you want me to help you?"
"I'll do it on my own. I'm a boy." Caleb refused help from Judy.
Judy patted him on the head and said, "Let me know if you need help."
Before showering, Mabel could barely open her eyes, but she was much perkier after the shower. Wrapped in her towel, she lay her head on Judy's shoulder, muttering, "Mommy, I miss Daddy."
"Shall we go and see him tomorrow morning?"
"But I miss him right now," Mabel said sadly.
Judy's heart broke a little to hear that. "Mabel, be good. Let's get you to bed. Once you wake up, you'll be able to see Daddy."
"Can I give him a call?"
"Right now? It's a little late. He might be asleep."
"Daddy is surely not asleep yet."
Mabel sat in bed in her bunny pajamas, looking extremely adorable, so Judy caved in. She took her phone and said, "We have a deal. If no one answers, you can't call him a second time."
"Okay."
In the quiet night, Caleb was already asleep on the big bed. Judy and Mabel had a phone on loudspeaker close to their ears. The call was picked up soon.
"Hello?" A familiar man's voice rang out.
"Daddy!" Mabel exclaimed.
"Mabel?" Clark was a little surprised. "Why are you still up?"
"Daddy, Mommy and I miss you!"
Judy said helplessly, "Mabel said she missed you. Did we wake you up?"
Clark paused for a while before saying, "No."
"Okay. You talk to Mabel. I'll go get her a cup of warm milk."
"Okay."
Judy passed the phone to Mabel, who lay on her pillow, hugging the phone. She recounted everything that happened that day to Clark.
"Daddy, I had my hair permed. Do you want to have a look?
"But I want to show it to you.
"Alright then. Will I get to see you tomorrow morning?
"Daddy, I saw the fireworks today. There was a pink bunny!"
