Vulpine glared at Paul and his crew with rage in her eyes.
A bullet had ripped through her shoulder. The pain was intense, forcing her to drop her rifle. Gritting her teeth, she pulled out the handgun tucked at her waist.
She didn't fire again-not worth it. Right now, she just needed a way out.
Problem was, she was surrounded. Hartwell's men were everywhere. Off in the distance, she even spotted a sniper lying in wait.
Yeah...she was screwed.
And then her phone buzzed.
Just a single, sharp chime-and then silence.
But her eyes instantly lit up.
Alaric's signal. He hadn't ditched her.
"Vulpine, enough games. Drop the gun and put your hands up," Hartwell barked coolly.
She didn't argue. Dropped her gun. Raised both hands high.
But right at that moment-boom. Alaric's car came roaring in out of nowhere. So fast, so sudden, no one had time to react.
They hadn't expected him back.
The windows cracked just enough, and a canister flew from inside into the crowd.
