Rain poured heavier with each passing second. With the duffel bag on my back, I walked along the road leading to Stonebrook. In the distance, Ravensrock resembled a colossal dragon lying in wait, poised to soar into the rain-drenched night.
As I neared Stonebrook, I opened the duffel bag, checked the shotgun, and ensured everything was in order. Then, I loaded it and quickened my pace.
I felt exhilarated. It felt as if all the blood in my body was boiling, and the world before my eyes gradually took on a crimson hue.
In the distance, a beam of light suddenly appeared, accompanied by the faint roar of a motorcycle engine.
My heart skipped a beat. Why would anyone be coming down the mountain at this hour?
To avoid any unexpected trouble, I quickly stowed the shotgun back into the duffel bag and stared ahead with heightened vigilance.
