It was well past midnight when Dominic finally fell into a deep sleep. Only then did Louise slowly open her eyes, quietly grabbed her phone from beside the pillow, and slipped out of the bedroom. She scrolled through her contacts, forehead slightly furrowed in annoyance-Edgar's number wasn't there. Standing alone in the living room, the image of the blood from earlier flashed across her mind. She let out a quiet sigh. Her thumb scrolled over the screen again. Ava's name appeared briefly, making her pause. Almost without thinking, her finger tapped the number. "Whoever this is, you better have a good reason for waking me up. If not, I swear you're dead!" Ava grumbled as she scrambled out of bed, half-asleep, annoyed by the constant buzzing of her phone. Without even checking the screen, she answered with full-on irritation. "It's me-Louise." Louise pulled the blanket from the sofa and wrapped it around herself before sinking back into the couch. Her voice sounded drained through the pho
