“Hey, Austin. How’s London treating you?” I asked, trying to keep the conversation light.
“It’s good, just the usual hustle and bustle,” he replied a hint of relief in his voice at the familiar question. “And Ella’s doing okay. I think she’s found someone new. Can you believe that?”
I chuckled, feeling a bit of normalcy return. “Really? I guess that’s good to hear. How’s she handling everything?”
“Thanks,” Sasha said, giving me a quick hug. “And good luck with your work, too. We’ll figure this out.”
“Seems to be doing fine,” Austin said, his eyes shifting slightly. “But it’s been a rollercoaster for her, just like for everyone else.”
“Well, that’s good to know. Anyway, I’ve got something more pressing to talk about,” I said, trying to shift the conversation to the recent events. “Last night was… well, a lot happened. You might want to sit down for this.”
