Chapter 147
A sharp slap cracked through the air, landing squarely on Bellamy' face and cutting her off mid-sentence.
Her head snapped to the side, the metallic tang of blood spreading across her tongue.
"I always thought you were smart. Guess I was wrong," Dexter sneered, one hand tightening around her neck as he forced her to face him. The twisted smile on his lips made her feel like death was creeping up behind her. "Some things? Better left unsaid. You really don't get that?"
Bellamy froze, then finally caught on.
Dexter wasn't oblivious-he knew the truth damn well, just chose to pretend otherwise.
Some folks lose everything and still manage to pull themselves together, start over. Others though, take it hard, let it rot them from the inside out. And Dexter? Unfortunately, he was the latter.
