Chapter 812 Alzheimer’s Disease

Tamara smiled at James. “Aren’t you overreacting? It’s just a wedding dress. We’re here to see if it fits. Since it looks good on Vanessa and fits her like a glove, I will have no problem putting it on later too.” James observed Tamara. Her smile seemed sincere enough. But James knew better than that. Tamara just didn’t want to put on a wedding dress for James. James narrowed his eyes. After a moment of silence, the corners of his lips twitched, and the dark look he had on before disappeared without a trace. “You’re right. So? Do you like the dress?” Tamara stared at the wedding dress. “Hmm. Not bad.” “Then it’s settled. You’ll be wearing this during our wedding,” smiled James faintly. Tamara nodded, “Sure.” She then turned to Vanessa. “You can take it off now. Sorry for the trouble.” Vanessa gave an awkward smile. Although James was smiling, Vanessa could feel the brutal chill behind it. Vanessa rushed to take off the dress and change into her clothes. After they exited the shop, they headed back to the hospital. It was the first time James didn’t demand Tamara accompany him back into his room, and this overjoyed Tamara. She left for another ward. She had just received news that Old Mrs. Moore was done with her checkup. She had been transferred to a regular ward. When Tamara arrived at the old woman’s ward, George was just walking out of the room. When he saw Tamara, he immediately said, “Right on time. I have something to tell you.” Tamara grew serious. “What’s wrong?” “Your grandmother is getting on in years. She was showing signs, but no one paid attention to it. Given that she has Alzheimer’s disease, the recent poisoning has hastened her cognitive decline. She can only recall memories from the past and has no recollection of recent events.” Alzheimer’s disease… Tamara paled. She couldn’t believe it. Tamara rushed into the ward. Old Mrs. Moore was asleep. The old woman’s face was as pale as sheets. It was also apparent she had lost weight. The wrinkles on her face were even more pronounced than before. She was also spotting a head of white hair. The passage of time had not been kind to her. Tamara’s grandma really was growing old. The only person Old Mrs. Moore held regret for was Alex. Tamara’s heart shattered, but she didn’t dare cry out loud for fear of waking the old woman. Tamara exited the ward after making sure her grandma was alright. George was still standing outside. “I have performed acupuncture on her to help with the disease. You and I are both practitioners of medicine. You know there is nothing we can do to fully cure her.” Tamara nodded and sucked in a deep breath. “I know.” George hummed, “Take care of her. If she wishes to meet anyone, let her. Don’t let her have any regrets in life.” Tamara’s nose soured. Old Mrs. Moore wanted to meet Alex. But it seemed her wish would go unanswered. Tamara closed her eyes. “Got it.” George took off his coat. “I’ll be going home now.” “Alright. Take care,” nodded Tamara, and she sent him on his way. She turned around to look at the old lady again but quickly averted her gaze. She couldn’t bring herself to look at Old Mrs. Moore. After standing guard outside for a little while more, Tamara left for the ICU. She went to visit her three children. Guilt and self-blame filled her entire core. This had been all because of her. Tamara’s heart broke as she stared at the children’s pale faces. She whispered to herself, “Just a little longer, my babies. The antidote will be ready soon. Wait just a little longer, okay?”
