Chapter 823 Burning Hatred
Hearing this, Tamara froze. “What about the other one?”
“We tried our best,” muttered the doctor apologetically. They sighed and left.
Soon, two beds were pushed out from within. One was draped in a white cloth, while the other was strapped to an oxygen mask.
“My dear grandson. Look at how badly you’re injured…” The old woman pounced on the man with the oxygen mask. She cried pitifully.
Tamara bit her lips.
Rico was the one who didn’t make it.
Roxy stared at the body. Her eyes reddened even further, and she stalked over slowly.
“This is just a prank, right?” cried Roxy.
Tamara’s heart broke for the girl. She averted her gaze.
The old lady had left for the ward with her grandson. They were the only ones left there.
The nurse patted Roxy. “I’m sorry for your loss.”
Roxy pushed the nurse away and pulled the cloth off of Rico. She stared at Rico’s pale face and started sobbing. “Why are you still asleep, Rico? Didn’t you promise to bring me to the amusement park after you returned? Didn’t you promise to celebrate my birthday with me? Why are you breaking your promises?”
Roxy bawled her eyes out.
Tamara’s eyes watered. She walked up to Roxy. “I’m sorry for your loss. I promise to give him a grand funeral. I will also fulfill any request you have.”
Roxy glared harshly at Tamara. “It’s all because of you! If you didn’t hire my brother, he wouldn’t have died!”
Tamara fell silent.
Before becoming part of the Moore family’s security detail, each bodyguard had to sign a contract indicating that they had joined of their own accord and would receive remuneration for their services. Additionally, the contract absolved the family of any liability in case of accidents or mishaps.
It was a voluntary job.
While it was true that the employees were not liable, Tamara was not devoid of compassion.
She wanted to repay the sacrifices her men had made for her.
Tamara stared at Roxy’s hate-filled gaze. She wanted to speak up but decided against it when she saw Rico’s pale face.
There wasn’t anything she could say to make the situation better.
He was gone now.
The body was left in the mortuary. Tamara went ahead and contacted a funeral home.
After she hung up the phone, she turned around and saw Roxy with her hands clenched.
“Please calm down,” said Tamara with furrowed brows.
Roxy was agitated. Her hatred for Tamara was not normal.
Roxy sneered, “You think you can just buy my forgiveness? My brother is dead because of you! I’ll make you pay!”
Roxy stomped out of the hospital.
Tamara stared at her retreating figure. She had a bad feeling about this.
…
Roxy rushed out of the hospital but was stopped by someone.
“Who are you?” Roxy was alarmed.
The person remained indifferent. “Mr. Gladwell wants to see you. This way, please.”
“Who is Mr. Gladwell? I don’t know anyone who goes by that name. I want to go home,” said Roxy. She pushed past the person.
But the person grabbed onto her hand and twisted it behind her back. They forcefully brought her inside the hospital.
Roxy stared at the person frightfully. “Let me go! Or I’ll scream…”
“Don’t you hate Tamara? Mr. Gladwell can help you with that,” the person piped up.
Roxy calmed down immediately. She followed the person to James’ ward.
