She was acting all cutesy again.
Broderick honestly couldn't remember the last time he'd seen someone act like that.
He had a little sister. Sienna. Just fifteen.
When their parents passed, she was only eight.
Like she didn't have a choice but to grow up fast. Just like him.
Since then, she'd never been clingy again-quiet, obedient, never causing trouble.
Broderick's eyes unconsciously drifted to Leslie.
She was nervous-you could tell.
She didn't want to take it slow, didn't want to wait anymore.
So much time already lost. She wanted to seize the moment.
"Broderick, I had another nightmare. I dreamed you disappeared again. We both died... and then I was all alone, searching for you-everywhere, even underground... I just wanted to find you."
His calloused fingertips gently wiped the tears from her eyes. That's when Leslie realized she was crying again.
