“Dr. Morgan, you’re here!”
It was one of the nurses from Palo Alto Medical Center. During flu season, many of us volunteer at community health clinics to assist with the public health crisis. A lot of Americans affected by the flu prefer to go to these clinics because they offer free or low-cost care, helping them save on medical expenses.
The nurse glanced at Isabel, standing beside me, her eyes lingering for a moment. I could tell they were impressed by what they saw. Isabel was dressed in high-end, luxury clothes from head to toe, a stark contrast to the other patients here at the clinic, many of whom were there for affordable or free care.
It was clear she could easily afford to go anywhere for treatment—probably at the best hospitals.
I noticed the nurses and staff exchanging glances, murmuring quietly as they looked between me and Isabel.
Isabel called me earlier to tell me that she had caught the flu. She was planning to visit Palo Alto Medical Center for a check-up and ask
