Chapter 16
Brandon Kim hesitated, clearly unsure whether to spill the truth.
"If you really wanna know, I guess it won't hurt to tell you. Hunt Group."
He kept things vague, as usual. Never naming names, just dropping the company. David was smart enough to connect the dots.
It was the safest way Brandon Kim could think of—staying neutral, not stepping on any toes.
He actually felt bad. If David hadn't messed with that guy, none of this would've happened.
"Got it." David nodded. He wasn't the type to dwell on things, and he already had a pretty good idea of who was behind it. Without another word, he turned around and left with quiet dignity.
Brandon Kim let out a long sigh, watching him go. There was genuine sympathy in that sigh. "Who knows what the hell that kid did behind the scenes..."
David silently packed his stuff in the office, all alone. Carrying a big box made for employees leaving the company, he walked out, shoulders heavy.
Falling from the top like that? Yeah, it hurt like hell.
