"Let's head back," Ethan said evenly.
But Alexander stayed put. He didn't want to go. His thoughts had drifted far, way back in time. It wasn't until Ethan gently pulled him along that he finally snapped out of it and moved.
They made their way over to the shelter by the beach. Both were soaked by the sudden downpour, but that didn't stop them from looking like they'd walked out of a magazine. Just standing there was enough to turn heads—all eyes on them.
His eyes were light gray, clear and deep. That perfect face, tall frame in a white shirt and faded jeans, but he carried a kind of quiet sadness that made people want to reach out and hold him.
The shelter was crowded. The morning sunrise had drawn tons of people to the beach—it was breathtakingly beautiful. Aside from Ethan and Alexander, everyone was there for the sunrise. Even though the sun had long risen, most stayed around to enjoy the ocean breeze. That's how they all got caught in the sudden rain.
