Early the next morning, Emma's fingers twitched slightly. She slowly opened her eyes and immediately caught Ethan gazing down at her with that warm, deep look in his eyes. Caught off guard, her cheeks flushed red and she quickly yanked her hand away from his. Ethan's lips curled into a faint smile at her bashfulness. "The doctor said you'd probably wake up this morning. I already called James. He's on his way with breakfast," Ethan said, acting like he hadn't just bullied the doctor the day before into saying whatever he wanted. "Okay," Emma mumbled, feeling more than a little awkward under his intense gaze. His eyes looked so gentle, almost like they could melt her, and her heart was thudding like crazy. Just as they finished freshening up, James walked in with breakfast in hand. "Ma'am, you're finally awake. You have no idea how worried the boss has been," James said while setting the food down. But before he could say anything else, Ethan shot him a look sharp enough to shut him up.
