CHAPTER TWO HUNDRED AND SIXTEEN – DIPLOMACY CALLS
As they bathed Helena, the bathroom filling with bubbles, laughter, and the occasional splash of water, Luca found himself marveling at the twists and turns his life had taken. From a hardened mafia boss to a father wiping paint off his giggling daughter's toes - it wasn't a path he ever expected to walk, but he wouldn't change it for the world.
Later that evening, after Helena was finally clean and tucked into bed, Rebecca and Luca sat on the couch, surveying the still somewhat colorful living room.
"So," Rebecca said, curling into Luca's side, "apart from potential traitors and paint explosions, how was your day?"
Luca chuckled, his arm tightening around her. "Eventful. But ending it like this makes it all worthwhile."
Rebecca tilted her head up to look at him. "You know, despite all the craziness, I wouldn't trade this life for anything. It may not be normal, but it's ours."
Luca leaned down, pressing a soft kiss to her lips. "And I wouldn't have it any other way, tesoro."
