26 VICTORY'S INTOXICATION

PERCY'S POV My mother was the first to call my attention to Karen's state. She seemed totally lost and she looked pale. I thought she was going to be sick or something, so I hastened my footsteps and caught her hand. I spun her sound and brought her directly to my face. Her eyes were blurred by tears that refused to fall. I was worried that something was wrong with her. “Karen…Karen…are you alright? Do you need something?” I asked her. Rather than give a response, I discovered that she only stared at my lips. She blinked and finally allowed the tears to fall. Next thing I knew was that her lips were already on mine. I could taste her tears as she kissed me. I was a bit shocked, I never expected her to kiss me after winning the case..it felt like the right time to express my feelings, so I reciprocated.
