CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND SEVENTY - Captive in Motion
"I'm so sorry, Nia," Leon murmured as he worked. "I should have been there sooner. I should have protected you from all of this."
Nia shook her head slightly, wincing as the movement aggravated her headache. "You're here now. That's what matters."
Leon's eyes softened at her words. He finished cleaning and bandaging her wrists and ankles, then turned his attention to the wound on her head.
"I'm going to check you for signs of a concussion, okay?" Leon explained, his fingers gently probing the area around the injury. "Follow my finger with your eyes, please."
Nia complied, tracking Leon's finger as he moved it back and forth. She answered his questions about dizziness, nausea, and her memory of the incident.
"Well, it doesn't seem like you have a severe concussion," Leon concluded, applying a small bandage to the cut on her temple. "But we should still have a doctor take a look as soon as possible."
