They were about halfway to their destination when the sound of an approaching vehicle made them both tense. A police cruiser rounded the bend, slowing as it neared them. Jasmine's heart raced. "Act natural," she murmured to Sophie. The cruiser pulled up alongside them, and a stern-faced officer leaned out the window. "Afternoon, folks. Mind if I ask where you're headed?"
