Allyson Fisher didn’t notice anything unusual about him and continued chatting idly. Meanwhile, Nelson’s phone lit up, and he instinctively glanced down.
But it wasn’t Callie—just a junk news notification. A faint wave of frustration washed over him.
“Nelson, are you even listening?” Allyson Fisher waved her hand in front of him.
Nelson’s voice dropped slightly. “It’s getting late. I’ll have the driver take you home.”
“I brought my own driver. He’s downstairs waiting. But I’m still expecting a friend. What’s this—Mr. O’Connor thinks I’m in the way and wants to send me off?”
