"What are you so worked up for?" Marcus's face darkened slightly as his hand instinctively clamped down on Elaine's chin. His eyes narrowed, a flicker of danger flashing through them. "Do you seriously think I'd lay a hand on you?" Elaine stared at him, feeling that his words didn't match his actions at all. If he really felt that way, why was he still holding onto her like this? Was this supposed to be fun? Marcus didn't seem too happy with the look on her face and tightened his grip a little, his voice low and threatening. "Audrey, give it a rest. You don't remember how many times you've tried to get my attention?" Audrey may have done that, who knows really, but Elaine knew for sure—she hadn't. Sure, she might've flirted once or twice, but how many times could that realistically be? Definitely not a two-hand situation. She forced a fake smile and replied, "Too many to count, I guess." "What makes you think I'd still be interested in you now?" he snapped. Elaine had no clue what had
