Chapter 107 Critical Condition

In the hallway outside the emergency room, the mood was grim. Austin, Serena, and Aaron looked shaken and worried. How did it come to this? They'd only meant to talk to Vernon about faking being sick. How did he end up in critical condition for real? This was way too much of a coincidence. Only Erin, head bowed, let a smirk slip when the doctor gave them the bad news that Vernon was in critical condition. Things couldn't have worked out better for her. If Vernon passed away or ended up incapacitated, his shares would be divided, and she'd have a clear, aboveboard shot at taking everything the Harts own for herself. The doctor came down the hall, looking grave. "We've stabilized Mr. Hart Senior." The Harts had just started to breathe again when he added, "But he's suffered an unknown neurological injury, and he's in a deep coma. Getting him back to baseline will require drugs that promote nerve regeneration." The doctor paused, resignation in his voice. "As of now, no such drug ex
